Marco Polo Hotel Davao Beyond Expectation

A photo posted by hashtagbylance (@hashtagbylance) on

What could be more satisfying than  having a complete relaxing luxurious business stay at the heart of Davao?

Homey Feeling: The most welcoming feeling when in  Davao.
As  part  of my perks being a business event organizer, I was given the chance to experience a cozy stay at the Marco Polo hotel for the second time around. It was just a so-so feeling until we reached the main entrance of the hotel,  Ms. Dottie and her staff are probably one of the most  awesome people on planet, welcoming us with smiles and hugs then handed each of us an envelopes containing personalized greeting card, welcome letter and key card,  after few minutes of hi and hellos we were told that we can already proceed to our room. All I thought the welcoming feeling has just ended there until I realized that the  moment we left the lobby and reached our designated room is just the beginning of our grandiose stay.

Aha and wow moment
As I opened the door, the first thing that caught my attention are fruit platter, red wine and slices of malagos cheese with welcome card saying welcome to Marco Polo,  Lance. So, to really totally welcome myself with a taste of Davao, I messaged my friend Ms. Carmie De Leon(VP Sales and Marketing of Healthway) from other room confirming if the wine is free then she answered me with sweetest word FREE, mandated by the rule of Love coming from the Sales Director, Ms. Pearl Maclang. Then the beautous afternoon started with fireworks in my head while enjoying every sip of red wine, contemplating, standing close to the window panes, appreciating the beauty and calmness of the nearby island and  the captivating sounds of the distant traffic, oh so tranquil and at peace.

The beauty of the people
On the next day right after our breakfast, I had the chance to talk to Ms. Chel Galang, the very hands on F&B manager, she's one of the awesome hotel personnel I've met, as we exchange thoughts and views, she was able to share  her journey, her life and her passion as hotel lover not as guest but as simple individual working there. Thank you for your time Ms. Galang, til we meet again.

All the hotel staff are great and very pleasing and attentive to our needs all the time.

I am giving my 5 stars rate to Marco Polo Davao, to its people and services. Daghang salamat!

Asia CEO Forum held at Marco Polo Davao

Life is a beautiful journey,  we will meet  a lot of people, it's just up to us if we want to learn from them or not but the most important thing is, cherish all the beautiful things as often and as much as we can and everything will be beautiful as well.

5 Simple things we must learn from the CEOs.

I believe these are the steps why the CEOs succeed.

1. Never settle for okay lang.
Ideas wont get better if you stay contented to the things you think it's already okay when in fact you can give your best. Great things happen when you give your best whether it is for free or not.

2. Dream Some More.
Do not stop dreaming, when you accomplished something that you think it is a wish granted, dream even more, stay hungry from dreaming because through that dream you will learn a lot of lessons, through that dream, it will teach and help you to give more of your best and work harder.

3. Do it now.
When you want to get things done ASAP do it right away, do it now, stay away from mañana habit, because nothing will happen today if you will do it next time.

4. Practice what you preach.
You are the ambassador of your own self, representing for something that you sell (whatever it is) reflects your own personality. Be passionate, be true, because after all, the people you will meet are the ones you can say your greatest critics in life.

5. Always believe that our dream is bigger than our fear.
Fear of rejection is one of the common factors why we stop and fail. If we believe that no amount of fear can break our strongest dream then no one can stop us from doing the impossible possible even the shameful rejection that can break a brave man's heart.

The Space (Excerpt from AirBnB)

Magnificent view of Mount Banahaw and “waterski alley” section of Caliraya Lake where Ferdinand Marcos was a regular water-skier.

Only 100kms from Metro Manila, it is a natural environment with clean air and cool elevated climate. Total lot area is 6700sqm with look-out section overseeing the lake.

Guest Access

Interaction with Guests

A caretaker family is permanently on-site to assist guests. They will do as much for you (or as little) as you wish.

The Neighborhood

The resort home faces onto a section of the lake known as “water-ski alley,” considered the best area of the lake for water-sports such as kite-surfing, windsurfing and, of course, water-skiing. Ferdinand Marcos obtained his world-renowned water-skiing skills in this location as he and his many friends and guests were frequent visitors. (The lot is the largest of 6 originally designated by former President Marcos for his most senior military generals. The property’s original owner was General Sarmiento.)

Getting Around

A nice boat man is available to escort you and your guests to and from your parking area. He is also gives great tours of the lake.

Other Things to Note

The resort home features a full kitchen, 2 toilets and baths, open dining room and sleeping area for 10 people (2 king-size beds, 1 queen-size bed and 1 pull-out).

The lot has 35 m lakefront coverage situated in a private lagoon. It is a natural environment that features 50-60 coconut trees plus mahogany, narra and other varieties. It is terraced into 3 main zones. The lakefront has 2 open grassy areas for lakeside activities such as swimming, boating and fishing, as well as badminton and volleyball. The middle zone is designed as a camping area and able to handle a generous group of tents with an open-air fireplace. The uppermost zone of the lot features a magnificent view of a large section of the lake.

Caliraya Lake is located 100km south of Manila near Pagsanjan. It is a freshwater mountain lake situated 300m above sea level with a comfortable year-round temperature. The lake gained a reputation as playground of the rich-and-famous during Marcos’ time as the leader and his many guests and friends were frequent visitors. Today, most property owners are various high-profile business people, foreign expatriates, prominent celebrities, retired diplomats and the like.

The lake is beside Mount Banahaw, known to locals as “holy mountain” and a place of pilgrimage. It is also one of the country’s highest peaks and a protected national park.

How to get there

South on SLEX – Take the Calamba exit (about 45km from Manila) and go east towards Los Banos. Continue all the way to Pagsanjan. The road hits a T-intersection at Pagsanjan Church and turn left going toward Barangay Bagong Silang. When you see the sign to Caliraya Lake turn right and follow a winding road upward and travel about 10 kms to see the lake. Look for a resort called Lagos Del Sol on your left and enter to park your vehicle. The entire trip is about 100 kms from Makati.

ASIA BPM SUMMIT 2016: Center of the Universe

As the global growth leader in business process management, Philippines has become the fastest growing country in Asia and a success standard for others to follow.

BUT, risks of overheating are everywhere. Roughly 60 companies are currently setting up new operations in the country – the highest number ever.

How can the sector possibly keep up when it is already stretched to the limit due to mammoth growth plans of current operators and a crisis in transport infrastructure? The addition of so many new locators at once, each with grandiose expansion plans, will push the sector over the edge, many believe.

Join Asia BPM Summit 2016 to hear and meet the leaders who are behind the industry that is powering growth of Asia’s new tiger economy.

Breakfast forum with Josep Elias, General Manager, ADP Philippines

Today’s leaders are usually leading 4 generations of employees each with very different needs and motivations. Most managers spend a large of their time trying to figure out how to get people working in harmony.

The tactic often used by many managers is to blame the young generation for not being like the older generation, yielding less than stellar outcomes. Successful results are possible once people understand what motivates each group. Once each group begins to respect the unique talents of the others, high levels of achievement follow quickly.

Join us to hear Josep Elias, General Manager of ADP Philippines, describe how to lead a Multi-Generational Workforce and transform your organization to one of trust and maximum business value.
